INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) is Japan’s largest exploration and production company by net production volume and proved reserves, and a mid-tier E&P player just behind the world’s oil majors. INPEX is currently involved in approximately 70 projects across more than 20 countries, including the Ichthys LNG Project in Australia as Operator.

The Ichthys LNG Project, the first ever large-scale LNG project operated by a Japanese company, will involve liquefying natural gas lifted from the Ichthys Gas-condensate Field offshore Western Australia at an onshore gas liquefaction plant constructed in Darwin in the Northern Territory. The project will have the capacity to produce approximately 8.9MTPA of LNG and approximately 1.6MTPA of LPG, and approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak. The project is expected to be operational over a period of 40 years.

INPEX’s leadership in the Ichthys LNG Project is supported by the company’s wealth of experience in prominent LNG projects including the Offshore Mahakam Block and Tangguh LNG Project in Indonesia and the Bayu-Undan Project/Darwin LNG in Australia and the Timor Sea Joint Petroleum Development Area. Leveraging this experience and its partnerships with the world’s leading oil majors, INPEX is currently also engaged in the Abadi LNG Project in Indonesia as operator, aiming for the early start-up of development through constructive discussions with the Indonesian government. INPEX’s other major LNG projects include the Prelude Project offshore Australia that is expected to turn out material cash in 2018.

In Japan, INPEX commenced full operations along the Toyama Line, a 103-km extension of the company’s natural gas trunk pipeline network extending approximately 1,500km in October 2016. This will contribute to the strengthening of the company’s domestic gas supply chain and the efficient, long-term and stable supply of natural gas to customers.

INPEX’s global project portfolio is evenly balanced in terms of crude oil/natural gas ratio, operatorship, operational phase (exploration, development and production) and geographic location, providing the company with a stable foundation of assets on which to build its future growth.

INPEX is currently engaged in the pursuit and achievement of three growth targets outlined in the company’s Medium- to Long-term Vision formulated in 2012. The three growth targets consist of the continuous enhancement of E&P activities, the strengthening of a global gas supply chain and the reinforcement of renewable energy initiatives.

Through sustainably growing its oil and gas development business, INPEX aims to become a top class international oil and gas E&P company as well as an integrated energy company with natural gas at its core, and continue providing a stable and efficient supply of energy to its customers.
